Newmachar
Newmachar village sits just north of Aberdeen, about 10 miles from the city.
One of Scotland’s Great Trails is the Formartine and Buchan Way, which walkers and cyclists love. The pathway is the former railway line linking Dyce, on the edge of Aberdeen to Peterhead and Fraserburgh, and is 53 miles in length, passing through Newmachar.
To the south of the village is an 18-hole golf course which is noted for being the official golf course of Paul Lawrie at the time he won the 1999 British Open.
A trip to Newmachar is made easier by the various Hotels and Bed & Breakfasts in the area, including the highly regarded Newmachar Hotel.
Getting There
Head north from Aberdeen via the B997 to find yourself in Newmachar. The journey typically takes around 20 minutes.
