Newmachar
Newmachar village sits just north of Aberdeen, about 10 miles from the city.
It lies on the line of the former Formartine and Buchan Railway which was closed in 1979 and to the south of the village is an 18-hole golf course which is noted for being the official golf course of Paul Lawrie at the time he won the 1999 British Open.
A trip to Newmachar is made easier by the various Hotels and Bed & Breakfasts in the area, including the highly regarded Newmachar Hotel.
Getting There
Head north from Aberdeen via the B997 to find yourself in Newmachar. The journey typically takes around 20 minutes.
