Inverurie Choral Society Summer Concert - Songs to celebrate the 80th anniversary of WW2's ending
This is the 27th year of Inverurie Choral Society's Summer Concerts and this year's concert, at 7pm on Saturday 7 June, will feature Songs to celebrate the 80th anniversary of WW2's ending, 2025 being the 80th anniversary of VE Day in 1945. This is our first concert with new Director of Music, and former accompanist, Jamie Campbell. All of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents were affected directly or indirectly by the privations and losses of the war. The joy that it was over in Europe was celebrated on 10th May 1945 and a generation of young men and women who had only known war as adults took the opportunity to let their hair down and make up for lost time! Some of us experienced our parents making up for their lost early youth well into the 50's, with the swinging Sixties coming as not too much of a surprise on top of that! We've chosen a selection of 40's and other appropriate music to mark the occasion, including Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and the medley from South Pacific . Along with some other favourites, such as The Soldier's Joy and Bring him home ,, and solo performances from Pipe Major David Webster and Ruaridh Gollan, we can guarantee a thoroughly entertaining musical evening. And of course not forgetting the Raffle, with juice and biscuits on offer at the Interval. Please bring cash for these, and it's a huge help for our front of house team if you have some small change as well!
