Tenement Jazz Band w. Nanna Carling live at The Blue Lamp
Tenement Jazz Band bring special guest Nanna Carling to Aberdeen for the first time for a special night of Jazz, Ragtime and Blues.
The soprano saxophonist, singer and composer Nanna Carling has, through hundreds of live performances in just a few years, made herself widely known for her energetic stage presence, crystal-clear musicality and sparkling charisma.
With inspiration from icons such as Sidney Bechet, Billie Holiday and Johnny Hodges, Nanna stylishly and passionately delivers the musical traditions of jazz to both new fans and already die-hard enthusiasts. Every performance is a real happy pill - with high energy and contagious joy of playing!
The Edinburgh based Tenement Jazz Band proudly claimed the title of Best Band at the 2022 Scottish Jazz Awards. Brought together by their shared love of New Orleans music, they are on a journey of exploration back to the roots of the music that they play. Their aims are to capture the raw energy and excitement of the early jazz recordings, to find and revive lesser-heard songs and cultivate their own interpretations of these, to captivate experienced jazzers, dancers, and uninitiated ears alike.
Together on stage, this will be a night to remember.
