Toggle location map

Aswanley offer:

  • Bespoke 4WD courses on our purpose build 4WD track in partnership with Land Rover Experience Scotland.
  • Field sports to guests staying in the Aswanley holiday cottages.

Land Rover Experience
Aswanley have teamed up with Land Rover Experience Scotland to create a purpose built 4WD course at Aswanley. Situated on Jock’s Hill, high above the Aswanley Steading, it offers excitement, challenges and breathtaking views of the Highlands towards Ben Rinnes. They can provide half day off-road driving courses, or full day team building days.  Simulated driven clay pigeon shooting is often run in rotation with the Land Rover Experience half day team building days.

Field Sports
Roe deer stalking and fly fishing are available to guests staying in the holiday cottages. These traditional Highland sports can be arranged to suit every level of expertise.

Stalking
Stalking outings are organised in the early mornings and evenings, accompanied by an experienced guide, Steve Wright and 4WD vehicle.   Steve is a knowledgeable stalking guide, brought up in the North East. He can arrange bespoke outings and is only too happy to show beginners the basics of roe deer stalking. He speaks some French, Spanish, Danish (and a little German). He was featured in The Vice Channels’ Munchies guide to Scotland, where he helps the presenter Charlet Duboc stalk her first roe deer.

Fly Fishing
Aswanley offers informal trout and salmon fly fishing holidays for up to eight rods on the River Deveron.

The River Deveron is one of four famous fly fishing Rivers in North East Scotland, smaller than the River Spey and River Dee but offering attractive and manageable trout and salmon fly fishing. Don’t let the size of the River Deveron deceive you, the record salmon ever landed on a fly was caught by Miss Morison of Mountblairy, some 20 miles from Aswanley and weighed 61lb!

Fishing the Deveron is an ideal place for beginners to learn salmon or trout fly fishing – it is a manageable size, fly fishing tuition is available from an experienced ghillie and its proximity to our self catering cottages means that outings can be as short or as long as you wish

Aswanley have three self-catering holiday cottages at Aswanley. They are available for short term lets - for a weekend, week or longer.

All the holiday cottages enjoy views across the picturesque highlands of western Aberdeenshire and each has its own private garden.

The cottages have Sony Bravia LCD Televisions and Sony Stereos. Broadband internet is available in Wester Park and Straitinnan.
