Halloween Hi-Jinks Awaits at Braemar Castle
Step inside Braemar Castle for a family friendly fright fest this Halloween! Can you help the Castle Witch find all the ingredients for her putrid potion? You’ll have to complete a series of spooky challenges to succeed in your quest, but beware, as you explore the Castle, you might encounter our resident ghosts!
The infamous Black Colonel still roams the Castle floors. Cloaked in darkness and hiding in the shadows, make sure you don’t wake him, or you will be in for a spine-tingling surprise.
In the morning room you’ll get crafty making some giant spiders and in the exhibition room, show off your moves with a ‘daring dance off’. Ghoulish games and frightful fun, once you’ve helped the Castle Witch you can enjoy hot chocolate and marshmallows around the freaky firepit. Enjoy an evening packed with laughter, excitement, and just the right amount of chills for all ages.
Braemar Castle will host a Halloween-themed treasure trail during the October holidays. Children will be invited to solve a series of puzzles and clues to uncover a spooky word and those who successfully complete the challenge will receive a prize. The Halloween trail is available with visitor entry into the Castle, it cannot be pre-booked, family entry is £28.
Built in 1628 by the Earl of Mar, Braemar Castle was transformed from a hunting lodge to a red coat military garrison after the Jacobite risings. It has survived Clan feuds, Jacobite rebellions and even being set alight, during the 19th and 20th century Braemar Castle became a high society retreat. Over its 400-year history the Castle has been inhabited by some fascinating and colourful characters, many of whom have left their mark in the fabric of the building and its grounds.
