Ythan Valley Campsite

Hidden away in the charming Ythan Valley, this quirky wee tent campsite is surrounded by rolling farm land, pretty country lanes and topped with beautifully ‘large’ and expressive skies. Ythan Valley Campsite is a tent-campers retreat, and luckily for those who discover it, it enjoys no midges! This little site in a daisy meadow has been deemed one of Scotland's hidden secrets and has cheerfully been awarded Best Holiday Accommodation in the north of Scotland.

You are guaranteed a warm welcome and they limit the number of pitches to ensure that a tranquil, relaxing atmosphere underpins your stay. Preserving  this peaceful environment is a top priority, therefore advance booking is essential to ensure there is a space for you.

Besides the pitches amongst the daisies in the main meadow there are also secluded Hideaway Pitches too, with your very own winding path through the long meadow grasses. Your own piece of solitude with butterflies & birdsong for company , plus a bubbling burn to chill your wine and sooth your toes after your days out & about exploring.

You can order homemade bread to be warm and ready for you in the morning, and free range eggs are available from the campsite’s happy ducks.

The toilets, washing & shower facilities are in the much admired Wash House which is a simple, ‘back-to-nature' inspired, conversion of the old coal shed – clean, comfortable and with a bit of a funky twist. For added connection with nature there is also a warm-water Bush Shower offering showering outdoors, hidden to protect your modesty. You can even have a herbal infusion prepared for you and added to the warm water to enhance your outdoor ablutions.

Once you return from your day out adventuring, gather around the communal fire, meet your fellow campers, toast some marshmallows, share stories, watch the sun go down and stargaze...

And new for 2020 – Campfire Cookouts – learn the craft of camp fire making, how to cook on different temperature coals, how & what to cook on an open fire, plushow to forage to bring a touch of nature into your tasty al-fresco dining.

This little gem of a campsite is one of Aberdeenshire‘s best kept  secrets . . . . ssssh!
