Johnshaven is a beautiful coastal village south of Stonehaven and Dunnottar Castle on the stunning A92 Coastal Route to Dundee via Montrose. It is steeped in its fishing heritage.

The Museum is a collection of displays, artefacts, videos, presentations and images of the heritage of the village from the mid 1600s. Experience our new digital exhibition where you can meet Johnner Jack and hear his stories come to life in "Tales of the Smugglers' Coast".

With friendly museum guides available who are only too pleased to talk to you about some of the interesting aspects of the stories over the years. The times were hard and the woman's lot was not an easy one. She carried the family whilst the husband was at sea.

Come along and enjoy what the museum and indeed the village has to share. Spend a little time walking in the village, or along the sea edge treading the paths of those from hundreds of years ago and compare the streets as they are today. Little has changed from the outside between, "Then and Now".

Maybe take a bite to eat at The Anchor Inn which is famous for its tasty fish dishes. A definite is a visit is to our beautiful Art Studio shop , "Starfish Studio" and buy something to remember your visit.
