Step into the serene world of Shan Shui - literally "mountain and water" - one of the most beloved themes in Chinese brush painting.
This immersive one-day workshop with renowned Chinese artist Chi Zhang begins with a brief introduction to the thousand-year history of Chinese landscape painting, celebrated for its expressive style and philosophical depth.
You will explore traditional techniques using soft brushes, ink, and rice paper, learning how to depict atmospheric winter landscapes. Particular attention will be given to the use of monochrome ink tones and subtle colour washes, which together create the depth and harmony characteristic of Chinese winter scenes. This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike.
Note: All materials, including brushes, ink, colours, and rice paper, will be provided. No prior experience is necessary — just bring your curiosity and creativity. There will be a one-hour lunch break.
