Mountain biking over Scottish Munros, past immense lochs, across heathery moors, and through ancient forests. Venture off the beaten track in Aberdeenshire and take in endless views of rugged coasts and mountainous landscapes.
You will find routes and trails designed to challenge all abilities running from the Eastern Cairngorms all the way to the beach in Aberdeen City. Whether it’s enduro, trail, DH, adventure or gravel Aberdeenshire has something for you!
Start your journey by finding your feet or testing your skill at the purpose-built bike parks at Tarland Trails and Aboyne Bike Park, perfect for a family friendly experience with options from beginner to expert level.
If you’re here for adventure, you’re in the right place. Find yourself in the heart of Royal Deeside where Aberdeenshire meets the Cairngorms National Park. This is a place for epic adventures, bike-packing (check out the Cairngorms are Calling video for inspiration) and multi-day explorations - the Deeside Trail is a good place to start.
For rugged rides on an abundance of natural trails, make your way to the Deeside delights near Banchory, Aboyne and Ballater – think loamy corners, roots and rocky descents with fun trail features all surrounded by remarkable scenery. If you fancy turning your natural trail ride into a big day out, The Deeside Way off road cycle route runs from Aberdeen to Ballater and provides great options to link up rides in different locations and the chance to take in some of the finest local hospitality.
You can also follow in the tracks of the racers as you take on the ‘enduro’ trails at Scolty, Pitfichie and Drumtochty. Get ready to earn your descents by pedaling up and then testing your bike skills as you will be faced with steep descents packed with surprises. Alternatively, head to Kirkhill on the outskirts of Aberdeen or Glenshee in the Eastern Cairngorms to recreate classic cross country or downhill races respectively.
