Sillyflatt Fare, Fields and Gatherings
Sillyflatt is a 142-acre farm in South Aberdeenshire, overlooking the North Sea. Family-owned and operated for three generations, current owners Ailsa & Jan Georg Van Rooyen have been expanding its offerings while enhancing regenerative agricultural practices.
The farm shop is well-stocked with a diverse selection of fresh produce, artisan cheeses, local meat and game, as well as an eclectic range of rural crafts, ethical gifts, vintage tweed clothing, and curated books on the outdoors, wellness, and cookery.
On-site, visitors will find a thriving no-dig market garden, a flock of sheep bred for hogget and fleece, free-ranging hens and geese, flourishing wildflower meadows, newly established orchards, and inviting outdoor gathering spaces.
Our Airstream, The Field Kitchen, offers seasonal, local, and foraged ingredients in a range of brunch-style dishes. It’s also the perfect spot for a barista coffee and home bake, or a cool drink and ice cream while gazing out over the fields to the sea.
We occasionally host long-table gatherings (check our social media and website for updates) and provide unique event spaces for hire, suitable for food and drink tastings, culinary workshops, craft and well-being sessions, or private and business gatherings.
The Cottar House sits on the farm's edge here in the NE of Scotland. Overlooking the sea, and with 180 degree open views, it creates calm and a sense of escape, whilst being within easy walking distances of 2 well served villages offering pubs, shops, takeaway etc ! Excellent proximity to good bus service and easy car access, private parking and a safe, enclosed garden make it ideal for families. Abundant walking routes, beautiful beaches and fresh air await you, or simply, some quiet time out.
