Northern Arc Sessions: Talisk and Symbio
Northern Arc returns with two exciting young award winning bands; Talisk from Scotland and Symbio from Sweden.
Winners of Best New Artist of the Year at the Swedish Folk & World Music Awards 2016, musicians Johannes Geworkian-Hellman (hurdy-gurdy) and Larsemil Öjeberget (accordion) are graduates of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. As Symbio, they’ll take you on a musical journey quite unlike anything you’ve experienced before.
For this first in the new Northern Arc series, Symbio will be joined by Talisk, winners of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award. Mohsen Amini (concertina), Hayley Keenan (fiddle) and Craig Irving (guitar) create a captivating, energetic and dynamic sound that has created quite a stir in the folk world. Amini was also crowned the 2016 BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year - this is a band whose star is definitely on the ascent.
