Homecoming for world-renowned artist in a new free exhibition — shaped by his decades-long journey through landscapes and cultures.

BOOKING NOT REQUIRED
With his work continuing to attract critical acclaim — including a current exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy — Paul has curated an intimate show for Drum Castle, returning to Aberdeenshire where he grew up.

Known for his mastery of Mokuhanga — the traditional Japanese woodblock printing technique — Paul Furneaux RSA creates layered, abstract works that echo the colours, shapes and textures of both Scottish and Japanese landscapes. His approach was shaped by four formative years spent living and studying in Japan, where he completed a master’s degree focused on the technique.

Whether you're an art lover, a curious visitor or simply looking for inspiring things to do in Aberdeenshire, this is a chance to experience world-class creativity in a truly historic setting.

Garden Installation
Inspired by one of Furneaux’s abstract works, a striking new planting scheme has also transformed part of Drum’s historic walled garden. Designed by Head Gardener Laurie Daguin, the two bold beds anchor either side of a dramatic, geometric arbour — a bespoke structure crafted by local blacksmiths in response to Furneaux’s use of line and form

The exhibition and garden installation are free for all to attend during open hours. Visit nts.org.uk for details of opening hours, tours and planning your day out.

Artworks are available for sale, with each purchase helping support the National Trust for Scotland - the country's laregst independent conservation charity - care for special places like Drum Castle.
