Arts & Culture

Aberdeen has long been an important cultural hub in Scotland. The city itself is home to a handful of key museums including the Tolbooth Museum, Aberdeen Maritime Museum and the Zoology Museums. Scotland’s first centre of science and discovery can also be found near Aberdeen Beach. The Aberdeen Science Centre, home to 50 exhibits and live-shows is a firm family favourite.

You will also find numerous art galleries including the impressive Aberdeen Art Gallery which is currently closed for mass refurbishment (with many of the artwork being temporarily displayed in Drum Castle). In light of the area’s rich cultural prominence, the city hosts top festivals and many events celebrating our rich culture.

Aberdeen’s very own Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre along with His Majesty’s Theatre, the Music Hall (currently closed for refurbishment), ACT Aberdeen and the Lemon Tree regularly welcome the biggest names in music, West End shows, comedy and entertainment along with up-and-coming local talent. One of the city’s quirkiest venues is the independently owned Belmont Filmhouse. Built in 1896 as a trades hall the cinema is now well known in the cultural sector for not only showing the newest releases but classic favourites and international films too.
