Scotland has long been at the top of my to-go list. The joy was all the greater when we went to Aberdeen in March to explore the city and above all the spectacular nature of Aberdeenshire. Here are five places I loved on my five-day trip to Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire and you should definitely have a look at if you're considering traveling to Scotland!
A long weekend in Aberdeen

I'm back in Aberdeen over the long weekend to explore more of the city centre followed by a visit to nearby castles. No trip to Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire is complete without exploring at least a couple of the 263 fascinating castles, stately homes or ruins in the region. With the immense number of castles, it is rather unsurprising that Aberdeenshire is also known as Scotland's Castle country.

It’s no secret that I love Scotland. Having grown up with a Scottish grandmother who told me tales of her homeland, it was inevitable that I would become a fan. And that’s to say nothing of all the time I spent in the Scottish Borders in recent years. But there are some gaps in my knowledge of this part of the UK, and Aberdeen is one of them.
