One of the things I love most about Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire is how diverse the region is. You can go from sandy beach to mountain top, fine dining restaurant to takeaway fish and chip shop and bustling city to remote village in the blink of an eye. So, when VisitAberdeenshire and Mackie’s of Scotland invited me on a pre-Christmas, foodie press trip with Mr G, we couldn’t pack fast enough.
North East 250: A 3 day Scotland road trip itinerary

Scotland is home to some fantastic road trips, and in our time living in Scotland we have tackled a fair few of them. This is a 250 mile self-drive road trip that includes Speyside, Aberdeenshire, and the Cairngorms National Park. It’s home to excellent whisky distilleries, fantastic stretches of coastline, cute villages, museums, castles, golf courses, and epic scenery. It’s also a much less travelled route than some of Scotland’s other road trips, making for an overall fantastic experience.

I always thought that I’m a summer person, but every time I head North of the country I can’t get enough of frosty mornings, evenings by the open fire and mulled wine. Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire was a whole new world for me with castles stays, whisky tastings and all the food adventures we had.
