True North Sessions: SHEARS

SHEARS writes, records, produces & mixes electronic music at home in Leith, Edinburgh, and then figures out how to play them live. Having moved on from the early days of building upon piano-driven demos, the writing and production process are now simultaneous, and nobody (not even SHEARS) knows what the next song will sound like.
Influences include Grimes, Caribou, Georgia and Marina. Live shows are a one-woman solo set-up, incorporating samples, percussion, synths and effects, along with live vocals.
After a summer of singles, shows, features on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing in Scotland, and a live performance on CBBC, SHEARS continues to release and her new single I Look At You (It’s Over) is out now.
“A rush of house-infused pop…sounds like a descendant of Sonique’s 1998 icy Eurodance hit ‘It Feels So Good’, before giving way to the insistent, hand-clap accented synthpop of the Robyn-esque chorus” – Wonderland Magazine
“Sparkling of melody, crisp of lyric, ‘Mind In Decline’ presents someone who is coming to grips with their own talents.” – CLASH
“A one-woman pop behemoth” – Nicola Meighan
Ticket price includes a pint, glass of wine and soft drink
