Short Talk: GAMING - In Plague-Ridden Medieval Aberdeen (UNI-Versal)
The Sir Duncan Rice Library
University of Aberdeen
Bedford Road
Aberdeen
AB24 3LN
In this talk, historians Dr Jackson Armstrong and William Hepburn explain how the grisly history of medieval Aberdeen came to life as the video game “Strange Sickness”, funded via Kickstarter.
In the game players begin their journey in 1498 as Robert Collison, a young Aberdeen Town Council member faces the terrifying challenge of a deadly plague threatening his community. Dr Armstrong led the Burgh records research on which the game is based and was directly involved in making the game, and his talk will focus on this process.
