Martin Parr: Think of Scotland
Photography exhibition featuring images of Scotland by renowned photographer Martin Parr.
Martin Parr loves Scotland. The world-renowned photographer has been returning here for 25 years, taking pictures the length and breadth of the country, from Ayrshire to Aberdeenshire and from Orkney to the Western Isles. 'Think of Scotland' is the first exhibition of these images which explore leisure, landscape, food and community with Parr’s characteristic twist.
Also on display is 'Aberdeen at Leisure', a new series of portraits of the city commissioned by Aberdeen Art Gallery to celebrate its landmark redevelopment. Parr has photographed Aberdonians in the places we like to spend our leisure time, including sporting venues, city events, in nightclubs and at the allotment. Will you spot someone you know?
Martin Parr has been dubbed the ‘chronicler of our times’. His photographs make the familiar look unexpected. They are original and entertaining, accessible and understandable. Their humour makes us laugh at ourselves, with a sense of recognition and release.
Presented by Magnum Photos and Aberdeen Art Gallery.
