COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM is the companion piece to the 2018 Scotsman Fringe First Award winning play DUPed. They are performed together here for the first time.DUPed, McCann and Mackennas 2018 Scotsman Fringe First Award winning show is based upon interviews with campaigners, journalists and activists from across the North of Ireland, exploring the history and continuing impact of Ian Paisleys DUP on those who oppose religious and social conservatism. This show compels us to question how we resist, how we reach out to others and to ultimately ask ourselves if we ourselves have been DUPed.COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM concludes the writers journey. The one thing I do in my own life is I try to have conversations with people in the DUP One of the things I think we have to do is we need to keep having conversations with the people we dont like, for those of us who can have conversations and can deal with the rhetoric. Lyra McKee (1990-2019)Writer John McCann has spent the last few months trying to follow in Lyras footsteps, having conversations he never thought he could. He met DUP politicians, an Orange Order District Master and a Free Presbyterian Minister. What he heard was a complex mix of tired talking points, deeply held convictions, historical revisionism and thankfully, hope.
