Dan Abrahams' driving guitar is joined by Rachel Walker's swinging fiddle and voice to create joyful, folky energy and expression. Having garnered rave reviews all across the UK, from jazz and folk festivals to pub sessions, they have been described as "Utterly enchanting" (Songlines magazine), "Rather splendid" (The Herald) and Living Tradition Magazine perceived them to be "A highly cosmopolitan melting pot of ideas and nuances from traditional, classical, jazz and world music realms - a fervent listener's delight". The band is often joined by an array of fantastic guests, such as Phil Alexander (Piano, Moishe's Bagel), Graham Coe (Cello, Jellyman's Daughter), Ciaran Ryan (Banjo, Dallahan) and the wonderful Scottish singer Dominic Blaikie.
The melting pot idea is sometimes over-stated, but Dowally has claimed a place which sits on an uninhabited island between the continents of folk, jazz, classical and cinema soundtrack.
The band play a mixture of instrumental pieces and songs, mostly original. There are also some trad tune sets, re-workings of traditional songs and even a cover of Arctic Monkey's fused with an Irish Reel. Rach and Dan's chat will put the audience at ease, giving a nice balance between telling stories in between the music, but not blathering away all night.
