Arra Textiles Weaving Workshop
Weaving workshop where you can learn some theory on weaving techniques and then give your own design a go.
Join me in the newly refurbished Arra Textiles Studio for a weaving workshop using yarn shades inspired by shades of autumn.
In small groups (maximum of three) you'll learn a little theory on weaving techniques and structures, design a weft based colour stripe pattern, then work on a pre-setup 4 shaft table loom to bring your bespoke design to life!
Towards the end of the workshop you will have a chance to either sew up your handwoven fabric or take it home for another project with detailed wash and care instructions.
We'll be working with a beautiful merino wool warp, set up and ready to weave, in shades of red and gold. There will be plenty of co-odinating weft yarns to choose from but you are also more than welcome to bring along any yarn you've been saving for a special occasion for some extra weft detail.
No experience necessary, this workshop is perfect for beginners, textile enthusiasts and craft lovers wanting to learn a new skill.
All materials and equipment are provided and at the end of the workshop you will be able to take your completed fabric home along with weaving notes from the day and care instructions in case you'd like to continue weaving in the future.
There will be tea, coffee and biscuits provided for breaks throughout the workshop and all materials and equipment will be provided.
Visit the "Weaving Workshops" page on the Arra Textiles website to see more images and videos from previous workshops.
