All Day Bushcraft comes to Crathes Castle!

Are you an outdoor type and spending free time in the woods sounds like your cup of tea? Do you like sitting around a campfire learning new and old skills? This may be the workshop for you!

Far from just admiring nature, this is a special opportunity to acquire some fantastic new bushcraft skills. Under the guidance of bushcraft specialist Willow Lohr, who teaches wilderness living skills in Scotland as well as abroad, you’ll not only find out how to use a knife safely, but also learn how to carve something useful and beautiful. You’ll also see how fire was made by our ancestors, before you can try to make it yourself, using Neolithic tools and tinders. In between handcraft activities, you’ll also discover how to forage for wild plants and trees, which our ancestors used for food, medicine, bushcraft and carving!

Meet us outside the castle at 9am for a 9.30am start.
We’ll finish around 5pm.

Only 15 places are available.

The workshop is recommended for over 16s.
Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
Please note that the fire component of the workshop will depend on weather conditions in the summer and may change if advised by the North-East Ranger Service.

All tools and materials are provided but remember to dress properly for a full day outside and in changing Scottish weather!
