ABERDEEN SINFONIETTA conducted by GARRY WALKER with ALAN HAGGART
Schubert Unfinished Symphony Haydn Trumpet Concerto (soloist Alan Haggart) John McLeod Prelude, Easter Carol and Finale from Machar – Portrait of a Saint Mozart Symphony No 40 in G minor
As this concert falls on Remembrance Sunday, Aberdeen Sinfonietta, under the baton of its principal conductor, Garry Walker, is taking the opportunity to dedicate the concert to the victims of war, with special reference of course to the conflict in Ukraine. The orchestra is also paying tribute to the Aberdeen-born composer John McLeod, who died earlier this year, by performing some movements from the suite Machar – Portrait of a Saint, which the orchestra commissioned from him in 2000. The soloist in Haydn’s deservedly popular Trumpet Concerto will be Aberdeen Sinfonietta’s own outstanding principal trumpet Alan Haggart.
