What's on in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire this winter

Get that festive feeling at events throughout winter in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Aberdeen Christmas Village has now returned outside impressive Marischal College! Take a guided winter tour of majestic Balmoral Castle and there are carol concerts too - one even in a castle! To bring in the bells, attend the famously unique Stonehaven Fireballs Ceremony. And in February, watch those dark winter evenings illuminated with the return of the award-winning light festival, SPECTRA!

 

1. Aberdeen Christmas Village [21 November - 31 December 2019]

Aberdeen's Christmas Village is back with an ice rink, fairground rides, live music and even silent disco tours! Also visit the market selling local crafts and food and drink.

2. Cinderella (Pantomime) [30 November - 5 January 2020]

Don’t miss the magic of Cinderella, the fairy godmother of all pantomimes! Go to the ball with a spectacular panto, packed with the traditional ingredients you expect.

 

3. Christmas carol concert at Fyvie Castle [7 December 2019]

Get into the festival spirit as you enjoy an evening of Christmas carols at Fyvie Castle from The St John Festival Choir, conducted by Professor Paul Mealor. 

 

4. BBC Sports Personality of the Year [15 December 2019]

Gary Lineker, Clare Balding and Gabby Logan head to P&J Live to look back over a remarkable 12 months of sport.

5. Aberdeen Hogmanay [31 December 2019]

Bring in the bells this year at the ultimate Aberdeen street party! A huge Hogmanay celebration with music, fireworks display, live performances and delicious food and drink.

 

6. Hogmanay in the Haughs [31 December 2019]

See in the New Year at Turriff's indoor Hogmanay party. Be entertained by Rianne Downey, Empire The Band and the most famous bagpipe band in the world, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers!

 

7. Stonehaven Fireballs [31 December 2019]

Watch the spectacle of swinging balls of fire as they light up the dark sky and create patterns in the air before the fireballs are finally looped into Stonehaven Harbour in this famous ceremony!

8. Burns Nights [Various dates]
