What's on in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire this Spring

The snowdrops are beginning to show with the daffodils on their way too. As the lighter nights slowly begin to make an appearance there is no better time to really embrace Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, so join in with an event or festival during your stay as we celebrate ancient traditions and spark new ones.

1. Unibet Premier League Darts [7 March 2019]

Aberdeen welcomes some of the world’s greatest darts players including Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson and James Wade to the AECC for a night of Unibet Premier League Darts.

2. KT Tunstall [8 March 2019]

Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall plays the iconic Music Hall (which just reopened after a big refurbishment) as part of her UK tour.

3. AFC vs Livingstone [16 March 2019] // AFC vs Motherwell [3 April 2019]

Support Aberdeen Football Club as they play at home at Pittodrie Football Stadium. This spring Aberdeen face Livingstone (on 16 March 2019) and Motherwell (on 3 April 2019) in the Scottish Premiership. Get ready to join the ‘COYR’ (come on your reds) chants!

4. Disney on Ice [20 – 24 March 2019]

Adding a bit of spring ‘magic’ to the calendar is the popular ice-skating show starring Mickey and friends as they journey through the magical worlds of The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and Frozen.

5. Aberdeen Jazz Festival [21 – 31 March 2019]

The Granite City comes alive with the sound of Aberdeen Jazz Festival later in the month. The festival line-up includes Nubiyan Twist and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. Don’t miss ‘Jazz on The Green’ for an afternoon of outdoor jazz.

6. Jason Manford [23 March 2019]

Star of ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ and ‘The One Show’, Jason Manford returns to stand-up with his new show Muddle Class.

7. Run Garioch [24 March 2019]

Set yourself a new challenge as you Run Garioch; choose the 5k, 10k or half marathon! If you can’t make this run, the Great Aberdeen Run is back in August.

8. Nathan Carter [11 April 2019]

Ireland’s No.1 country singer, Nathan Carter comes to the Music Hall on his Born For The Road 2019 tour.

9. Nuart Festival [18 – 21 April 2019]

Adding colour to your calendar is Nuart Aberdeen with a splash of creativity and lots of excitement. The multi-award winning street-art festival will add to its already impressive collection of street-art throughout the city centre.

10. Kinky Boots [23 – 27 April 2019] and [29 April – 4 May 2019]

Tony and Grammy award-winning musical Kinky Boots is in Aberdeen for 10 nights of joy and laughter.

11. Papa Roach [25 April 2019]

Alternative-rock quartet Papa Roach come to the Music Hall for the UK leg of their tour. Special guests: Nothing More.

12. Dolphin Festival [25 – 28 April 2019]

Have you heard that you can spot dolphins in Aberdeen? And now we have our own dolphin festival. DolphinFest includes four days of talks, film screenings, activities, games and practical actions to protect marine wildlife. Of course there will be dolphin spotting too!

13. Aberdeen Golf Links Pro-Am [1 – 3 May 2019]

The inaugural Aberdeen Golf Links Pro-Am takes place at three championship links courses - Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, Cruden Bay Golf Club and Trump International Golf Links. Celebrity guest speakers at the event include Sam Torrance and Dougie Donnelly.

14. Minival 11. The Castle Party [11 May 2019]

The magnificent Drum Castle is hosting electronic music festival Minival 11. The Castle Party 2019. Announced acts include Bicep (DJ), Henrik Schwarz (live) and Job Jobse.

15. Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals [12 May 2019]

With not one but two dates you have no excuse not to see Saturday night’s favourite Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals at the AECC.

16. The North of Scotland Pipe Band Championship – Banchory [12 May 2019]

Banchory hosts the 5th North of Scotland Pipe Band Championship where bands from all over Scotland compete. Perfect for getting you in the mood for Highland Games season kicking off in June.

17. May Festival [24 – 26 May 2019]

Taking place at the historic and beautiful University of Aberdeen, May Festival is a family friendly event offering over 120 events that focus around literature, music, film, science, sport and more.

18. Grampian Pride [25 May 2019]

Grampian Pride brings the local and wider community together and encourages everyone to ‘just be yourself’ in a day of celebration.
