What better way to spend your extra day this leap year than at Taste of Buchan, an inaugural event hosted by S6 Travel & Tourism students at Peterhead Academy in collaboration with VisitAberdeenshire. Aiming to bring recognition to the local area of Buchan whilst highlighting the array of fantastic businesses to shop local.
Taking place on Thursday, 29 February 2024, those from near and far can enjoy a taste of Buchan by indulging in foodie delights from local businesses. The event will be held between 12-4pm at Palace Hotel, Prince Street, Peterhead, and is free for all to attend.
After months of hard work and determination, whether being involved in planning, business liaison, or marketing, the team are delighted to see the growth of the event and look forward to welcoming as many people as possible next week.
From the whirlwind journey to what to expect on the day, let’s dive in!
The journey so far
After being presented with the project brief, the team started to meet with VisitAberdeenshire to brainstorm ideas, finally settling on a food and drink event that celebrates the diverse and local offering of Buchan. The first task was getting the ball rolling, from liaising with businesses and the venue to creating a full marketing strategy to promote the event, which included an array of digital channels. In October, the team’s designers unveiled the masterpiece logo which has been used ever since in relation to everything Taste of Buchan.

After meeting with many notable figures across Aberdeenshire, including MP David Duguid, MSP Karen Adam, Councillor, Dianne Beagrie, and Linda from SURF, the support and appreciation for the event has been incredible. With a great start to 2024, Taste of Buchan is proud to have been featured in multiple publications including Press & Journal and The Scotsman.
What to expect on the day
The day’s events will include renowned seafood producers, Amity Fish Company Ltd, the finest coffee courtesy of SYMPOSIUM Coffee House, a treat for all the chocolate lovers out there handmade by The Green Cocoa Team and more.
