Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire offer a diverse array of cycling routes that cater to enthusiasts of all levels. Here are some of the top cycling routes we’ve handpicked for you to explore this Bike Week (9 - 15 June). 

Leisure Cycling 

Deeside Way

Spanning approximately 41 miles from Aberdeen to Ballater,  The Deeside Way follows the path of the old Deeside Railway line. This mostly flat route is suitable for families and casual cyclists, offering picturesque views of the River Dee, ancient woodlands, and charming villages. Highlights along the way include the historic Drum Castle and the Royal Lochnagar Distillery near Balmoral.

Formartine and Buchan Way

Covering around 53 miles, this route utilises the former railway line from Dyce to Fraserburgh and Maud to Peterhead. The trail takes riders through tranquil countryside, farmland, and woodlands. Stonehaven to Dunnottar Castle

Aberdeen to Balmedie Beach
