Two new murals honour football legend Denis Law

The Granite City has recently unveiled two stunning murals honouring local football legend Denis Law. Located in the Printfield area, where Law was born and raised, these large-scale artworks are a striking testament to his enduring legacy and deep connection to the community that shaped him.

A tribute lose to home

The murals are positioned on a high-rise building just a stone's throw away from Law's childhood home. Each mural captures iconic moments from his illustrious career, one depicting Law celebrating in his famous Manchester United number 10 jersey and another portraying him proudly representing Scotland.  These vivid scenes have been meticulously crafted by renowned Australian artist Jerome Davenport, founder of street art company Blank Walls. Davenport, who travelled across the globe to bring this vision to life, ensured that Law's vigour, passion and dedication to the game were beautifully reflected in the artwork.

The start of the Denis Law Legacy Trail

These murals are not just standalone pieces of art, they mark the official starting point of the Denis Law Legacy Trail, an initiative developed by the Dennis Law Legacy Trust in collaboration with the Aberdeen City Council and Printfield Community Forum. The trail is designed to celebrate Law's extraordinary career and his roots to Aberdeen through a series of murals and interactive installations spread across the city. The choice of Printfield as the starting point holds deep sentimental value, as it was here that Law’s remarkable journey to football greatness began.

A Source of Community Pride

The unveiling of the murals have sparked widespread admiration and pride among local residents, expressing their delight in seeing their hometown hero honoured in such a grand manner. The artwork has quickly become a focal point in Aberdeen, attracting football fans, tourists and art enthusiasts eager to witness this magnificent tribute firsthand. Beyond its visual appeal, the murals serve as a powerful reminder of Law’s impact, not only as a sports icon but also as a role model whose story continues to inspire future generations.

As part of the Denis Law Legacy Trail, the murals ensure that his story is preserved and shared, motivating young dreamers to pursue their passions with the same tenacity that defined Law’s career. This heartfelt tribute not only honours the man but also strengthens the bond between Denis Law and Aberdeen, ensuring that his legacy will be remembered for years to come.
