Trying to decide which weekend to visit Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire this summer? Of course all are great choices... but if you really want to experience our festivals and events during your trip we've got a bumper weekend you won't want to miss!
Here are just some of the event highlights taking place from 23-25 August 2019 in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire:
1. Great Aberdeen Run (25 August 2019)
Is running a half marathon or a 10k on your bucket list? Join thousands of runners taking on this unique challenge and sightsee in Scotland's famous Granite City as you go. And if you don't fancy taking part, you can still feel the buzz of the challenge as you join the cheering supporters.
2. Lonach Highland Gathering and Games (24 August 2019)
We've got a summer packed full of Highland Games in Aberdeenshire. Experience one of Scotland's most renowned ancient celebrations, at Lonach Gathering & Games this August. Enjoy mass pipe bands, highland dancing, sports including tug-o-war and caber toss, as well as food and drink and entertainment.
3. Inspired Nights (23 – 25 August 2019)
Is a weekend away really complete without a foodie experience? Kick back and take in historic surroundings, impressive street art and a lively atmosphere with street food and refreshing drinks from local suppliers. There's even live music to keep you entertained all weekend!
4. Stonehaven Harbour Festival (25 August 2019)
Visit Aberdeenshire's coast on a summer's day at the Stonehaven Harbour Festival. Join the crowds and enjoy stalls, displays, raft racing on the sea and even a sandcastle building competition, all in the setting of Stonehaven's picture-perfect harbour.
5. Celebrate Aberdeen (24 – 25 August 2019)
Celebrate everything that makes Aberdeen great at Celebrate Aberdeen. Expect a weekend full of entertainment with a parade down our 'Granite Mile' (aka Union Street), three running races and live music across five city centre locations.
6. Techfest Activity Weekend (24 – 25 August 2019)
Intrigued by the science behind every day life? Our science festival, TechFest kicks off with its popular Activity Weekend. Expect a programme of workshops, presentations and shows all exploring the science behind almost everything and anything.
