Steve Garrett Lunchtime Guitar Concert

Steve’s lyrical expression brings out the resonance of the electric guitar. Sources include medieval choral music, Scottish folk, eighties rock, and modern jazz. New compositions and arrangements inspired by stories of discovery and endurance are featured alongside tracks from the 2015 release Even Song - music to match this venue and beautiful setting.

“The notes being played hang in the air like butterflies caught on an updraft but whose own elegance and perfect sense of balance allows them to defy being swept away.” (Ian D. Hall, Liverpool Sound and Vision).

On display during the recital will be the photography exhibition by local North-East artist Anke Addy - 'The Living Cairngorms'. The exhibition is inspired by Nan Shepherd’s book ‘The Living Mountain’ (1977) which is centred on a mountain range on the eastern side of Scotland and is closely associated with the high plateau of the Cairngorms. This photographic exhibition concentrates equally on the living elements of the Cairngorms: The Plateau, Air and Light, Water, Frost and Snow, Plants, Birds, Mammals and Insects.
