Wild Water Life
A special day out with walks, talks and fun games exploring nature, aimed at children but entertaining for adults too.
Join us for a walk to learn about the history and natural history of these beautiful and locally-important waters. Booking essential, only through the event website.
Aimed at children but informative for adults, this walk lasts an hour with some activities/games lasting half an hour. How did the ponds come to be here? Does anyone sail on them? What lives, or has lived, nearby? Learn about local species such as otter, and water vole, the herons and wildfowl that use the ponds. Find out what makes plants burst into life in spring. Does anything live underneath when the surface is thick with ice?
Discover how the wildlife around the ponds use them. What makes a goose different from a duck. And do you know your dabbler from your diver? Get hands-on with nature and join other families in some food-web tom-foolery!
