Bebop Conservation Society
New jazz and bebop group led by saxophonist Stewart Forbes.
This new group is the brainchild of saxophonist Stewart Forbes and celebrates the music of the great altoist Charlie ‘Yardbird’ Parker in this the centenary year of his birth (1920).
‘The Bebop Conservation Society’ is a collective of some of the greatest modern jazz musicians living and working in the U.K. The group celebrates the library of the three main Charlie Parker quintets, with Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and Red Rodney.
The repertoire includes ‘Shaw ‘Nuff’, ‘Bebop’, ‘Dizzy Atmosphere’ and ‘Dewey Square’, ‘Donna Lee’, ‘Moose the Mooch’, ‘Relaxin’ at Camarillo’ amongst others. Featuring Steward Forbes (sax), Bruce Adams (trumpet), Brian Kellock (piano), Tom Gordon (drums), and Ed Kelly (bass).
