Scottish Opera: Opera Highlights
Scottish Opera takes its slimmed-down highlights show on tour.
Each year, Opera Highlights takes four singers out and about around Scotland, travelling the highways and byways by land, air and sea, to bring a musical mix of operatic treasures to venues the length and breadth of the country.
This Season, the show is visiting 34 venues over Autumn 2019 and Spring 2020, and is packed with operatic classics and must-hear rarities, once again curated by Scottish Opera's Head of Music Derek Clark. Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti rub shoulders with Gilbert & Sullivan and a new piece by Scottish Opera Composer in Residence Samuel Bordoli.
Roxana Haines (Edgar 2018) directs two casts of fresh, new talent, including Scottish Opera’s Emerging Artist singers for 2019/20–soprano Charlie Drummond, former young artist at the National Opera Studio; baritone Mark Nathan, recent graduate from the Opera School at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland; and baritone Arthur Bruce, a former member of Scottish Opera Young Company, who also recently graduated from the RCS Opera School.
