Pumpkin Planting Sessions
One-hour long session where children can get their hands dirty and learn all the necessary steps to planting a pumpkin, take one home to watch it grown, and even have a little visit with Udny Pumpkin's friendly animals.
Come along and plant your own pumpkin! Children will get hands on experience of planting their own pumpkin seeds. Once planted, they can take one home to grow and leave the other at Udny Pumpkins to grow in our pumpkin patch. If they want to they can return in October to see how their pumpkin grew and buy it if they wish! The planting sessions will take place in the polytunnel, with children digging their own compost, choosing their pot, planting their seeds and watering them. Afterwards they will have a chance to visit the Udny Pumpkins friendly animals (sheep, hens, turkeys) and hold a baby chick or duckling. Sessions will last one hour. Hand washing facilities are available. Suitable for children aged up to the end of primary school. Please note: The cost does not include the purchase of the pumpkin from the pumpkin patch in October. There is no commitment to buy this but if they want to they will be priced according to weight.
