Lunchbreak Concert: Andrei Ioniță (cello)
Romanian cellist Andrei Ioniță is joined by his long-term collaborator, pianist Florian Mitrea, for a concert that ranges across three centuries. Beethoven’s third of five cello suites is followed by a short romantic work originally for viola by their countryman George Enescu, in an arrangement by Andrei Ioniță. Finally, closer to home, a beautifully serene meditation written for Good Friday by Scotland’s foremost composer, James MacMillan. This concert will be recorded live.
