Hear from some of the best national and international artists and designers, writers and curators, in this series of free talks delivered in partnership with Gray’s School of Art. You don’t have to be a student to enjoy these talks – everyone is welcome!
Vicky Higginson uses a variety of glass-making techniques to create complex sculptural pieces which combine colour, pattern, mark-making and form. Her new work for Jerwood Art Fund Makers Open, Coping Mechanisms, is a series of glass healing devices that draw on folklore, mythology and medical history to imagine ways to treat emotional ailments, including a pestle and mortar (to break up overwhelming thoughts), ear trumpets (to hear things left unsaid) and an anaesthetic inhaler (to numb grief).
