Hear from some of the best national and international artists and designers, writers and curators, in this series of free talks delivered in partnership with Gray’s School of Art. You don’t have to be a student to enjoy these talks – everyone is welcome! Christine Borland often works in collaboration with non-art-related institutions, exploring areas such as forensic science and medical ethics. She frequently asks us to consider the fragility of human life and how it is valued by social systems and institutions. Five Set Conversation Pieces, in the collection of Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums, refers to the trading of goods, including slaves, but also Borland’s experience of giving birth for the first time. She was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1997. Image: Five Set Conversation Pieces, Christine Borland, 1998 © the Artist, 2002
