Doghouse Roses
Atmospheric folk and blues duo turned trio with skilful guitar playing and ethereal vocals.
Doghouse Roses are a fiercely independent duo of Iona Macdonald and Paul Tasker, combining harmony vocals, guitars and clawhammer banjo. They release a new album, *We are Made of Light* in October 2019, and the show will feature new songs from this record.
Originally inspired by the fusion music of the Pentangle and Gillian Welch, as well as songwriters like Jackie Leven and Natalie Merchant, the duo find themselves as at home playing folk festivals as they rock clubs. After a 5 year sabbatical, their third album *Lost Is Not Losing* was released in November 2016 to superb reviews, with the Daily Express affirming that it ‘delivers an extraordinary punch'.
Previous years saw the duo establish their reputation through the UK and Central Europe, touring on their own and as members of U.S. based alt-country collective The Willard Grant Conspiracy.
'Our version of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. A similar combination of a superb voice and masterful guitar' – Americana UK
'Her wonderfully expressive voice is the perfect counterpart to his intricate finger-picking.' – Sunday Herald
