To mark the start of DataFest Fringe events in Aberdeen, The Data Lab is holding an event at the ONE Tech Hub to celebrate data and its capabilities across all industries. The morning event will be kicked off by a 30minute talk from our headline speaker Marc Priestly. Mr Priestly will open this event with a keynote presentation, showcasing the central role data has to play in an industry where every millisecond counts. Following a decade as a mechanic on the McLaren F1 pit crew, the Sky Sports pundit will explain the pivotal role that communication, teamwork and pressure play in developing an effective strategy to secure marginal gains. With each car generating 10mb of data per lap, analysts look ever more closely at competitors’ decisions in an effort to optimise their own team performance. The afternoon will consist of multiple Fringe events located throughout the ONE Tech Hub held by the local Data Science community, alongside guests from including these events will go live on our website in the near future so keep an eye out! This event is being supported by Scottish Enterprise, Merkle Aquila and the ONE Tech Hub. Alongside this Barclays Eagle Lab will also open their doors for the afternoon demonstrating the capability of their rapid prototyping kit and discussing the many ways Barclays support start-up companies in the Aberdeen ecosystem.
