Developing from our ongoing research project, Turf to Tools, led by artist and Senior Technician Eden Jolly, this weekend course will share methods of ancient bronze casting used by Pictish metalworkers. Participants will use natural and readily available materials such as beeswax, clay, sand, horse manure to make a green mould and charcoal powered furnace to cast small objects such as a piece of jewellery in bronze. Our courses are open to all levels of ability and experience - beginners are very welcome as well as those who want to build on existing skills or try something new. If you have any suggestions, questions or requirements relating to accessibility, please get in touch and we will make every effort to support you to visit.
