Becc Sanderson Sextet: "bows To Bowie"
Becc Sanderson Sextet Bows to Bowie is a thrilling concert celebrating one of the most mercurial artists on the planet: David Bowie.
The Becc Sanderson Sextet was created in 2014. The band has traversed from the blues of Buddy and Ella Johnson to classic standards, releasing their exquisite CD Glow in December of 2014. And their re-workings of new, contemporary standards and by their artist of choice, David Bowie, with Life on Mars and Jean Genie being a part of their repertoire from the band’s debut. Add to this Sanderson’s epic performance of Heroes as a featured artist in La Clique Encore!
The sextet feature the creme de la creme of Scottish Jazz talent, with Steve Hamilton on Piano, Tom Gordon on Drums, Martin Kershaw on Saxophones, Brian Shiels on Double Bass, and MD Chris Greive on Trombone, each adding their own phenomenal talents to the original arrangements by Greive.
The fascinating process of attempting to choose repertoire from an artist as prolific and diverse as Bowie has been like digging for treasure? So they include a range from crowd favourites to lesser known but no less deserving tracks, plucked from albums Heroes, Aladdin Sane, Ziggy Stardust, Hunky Dory, Station to Station, Low and Let’s Dance.
