Families, Feuds and Folk Song

Hear the beauty of old traditions and their relevance for today, in sparkling harmonies sung in the grand setting of St Margarets Church, Braemar. This song sequence by North-East poet Les Wheeler tells of the bloody seventeenth-century feud between the Gordons and Farquharsons of Deeside, described in the ballad The Baron o Brackley. Featuring North-East ballad singer Janice Clark and an introduction from Elphinstone Institute Director and ballad specialist, Thomas A. McKean, on the North Easts crucial place in world song history. Conducted by Gordon Hay, with choir, fiddle, piano, and flute.
