A Spring Soiree: Flute Recital by Gillian Watt
Leith Hall Garden & Estate
Gillian Watt performs music inspired by spring.
'Spring Soiree' – a flute recital by Gillian Watt in the Music Room.
Composers throughout time have been inspired by the seasons of the year. This programme will introduce the audience to music inspired by spring, written (or transcribed) for the flute and alto flute.
Gillian has performed professionally and taught flute on both sides of the Atlantic, with a career spanning over 30 years. She has performed numerous solo and chamber recitals, in addition to her orchestral work. A diverse musician, Gillian plays a variety of genre, including jazz (for pleasure!) and folk music, having had her ceilidh band for several years. Her first ever gig as a professional musician was playing the piccolo in Disneyland, California! Brought up in the North East of Scotland, Gillian studied music at Northern Illinois University, gaining a Master of Music and Bachelor of Arts in Flute Performance.
Gillian now teaches part-time in her studio, near Insch, Aberdeenshire. In addition to flute, Gillian also teaches piano, music theory and fife (for children too young to play the flute).
