"Mexico´s guitar maestro takes us on a musical journey of works by contemporary Latin American composers from Mexico City to Buenos Aires" Morgan Szymanski´s musical journey starts dancing a Danzón in his home town of Valle de Bravo in the hills of the State of Mexico, where the Monarch Butterflies migrate every year from Canada. Only a short drive away is Mexico City, where Mexico´s foremost composer Manuel M. Ponce lived and worked. His close friendship with guitarist Andrés Segovia and his famous melody ´Estrellita ´gained him international reputation. We then visit Cuba through the lullabies of Leo Brouwer and waltz into Venezuela with the music of Antonio Lauro, inspired by traditional harp music. The Andes are represented in Brouwer´s ´Danza del Altiplano´ before venturing into the jungles of Paraguay with the masterpieces of Agustín Barrios Mangoré. Brazil and Argentina end the journey with Villa-Lobos´s Prelude and the traditional ´Choro´ rhythms before the grand finale of Piazzolla´s unforgettable Tangos. A musical journey not to be missed!
