Ballater Highland Games
The Ballater Highland Games are held annually on the second Thursday in August in Monaltrie Park, Ballater and in 2019 the Games will be held on Thursday 8th August.
The “Friendly Games” in Royal Deeside provides a day of traditional highland games, with pipe bands, piping and highland dancing competitions, athletics including a hill race, light and heavy field competitions with tossing the caber, and tug o’ war. The Games conclude with the traditional fun of Tilt the Bucket, before Beat Retreat takes place on the Church Green in Ballater.
In 2019, our Chieftain Captain Alwyne Farquharson of Invercauld M.C. will be attending his 71st successive year as Chieftain! He will also be 100 years old by the time of the 2019 Games, when, in accordance with Ballater tradition, he will be attended by a Regimental Guard of Honour!
