Across the Grain: Festival of Doric and Traditional Music
‘Across the Grain’ will be a community-based festival of inspiring cultural activity celebrating Aberdeenshire’s cultural life, heritage, language and stories.
A partnership between creators, cultural organisations, and public sector partners to promote and celebrate our unique Doric distinctiveness – music, literature, land and food – think of the Bothy ballads, Grassic Gibbon, the Cairngorms…From Mountain to Sea!
The festival features two concerts – Madam Tsunami & Iona Fyfe Trio performing at Aboyne on Friday 12th October and Frieda Morrison and her band on Sat 13th October in Inverurie.
‘Across the Grain’ will showcase how vital our Doric heritage, music and stories are to our shared cultural experience in Aberdeenshire, give strength and confidence to the sector, invigorate our communities and their pride in their own local histories and in the communities in which they live.
