Cycling

Whether you prefer to ride on the road, explore a mountain bike trail or just a leisurely ride away from traffic, get on your bike in Aberdeenshire and venture into our great outdoors.

Pedal through impressive estates, extraordinary Scottish Munros, ancient forests, rolling farmland, wide sandy expanses and places you never even knew existed. In this part of Scotland you’ll be challenged with legendary routes across Royal Deeside and tough climbs through the Cairngorms National Park towards our ski centres.

If you're a keen cyclist, then why not try your luck at the Aberdeenshire Ascents? This new initiative recognises ten of the most challenging cycling routes found in the region.

Roam for miles on official routes, discover visitor and local favourites on platforms like Strava and Garmin or find your own routes and trails. If you’re looking for a full cycling experience during your trip, book one of the expert tour guides in Aberdeenshire. If you don’t plan on taking your own wheels with you, you have the option to hire a range of bikes whilst here.

No matter where you end up on your cycling expedition you’ll never be far from a warming coffee and fine-piece (Doric for cake) at one of our cycling-friendly cafes.

And if you’re more a fan of watching cyclists than being one, don’t miss one of the many cycling events taking place across the year including the Tour of Britain, Ride the North and Mid-Summer Beer Happening (there is the option to take part in these rides too).

Please always follow the Scottish Outdoor Access code.
