Garioch Heritage Centre
The Garioch Heritage Centre is a four-star visitor attraction nestling in rural Aberdeenshire strategically positioned for easy access via road and rail networks and is located approximately forty minutes from Aberdeen City. Our site showcases an architecturally acclaimed conversion of a former industrial building originally part of the Inverurie Locomotive Works, which played a key role in the social and economic development of the area. The building’s B listing is recognition of its significance in terms of industrial heritage. It provides a captivating and fully accessible permanent exhibition space where visitors can explore the rich history of the North East of Scotland from the early 20th century to the present day.
In addition to regularly reviewing and enhancing our museum experience, we host a broad range of temporary exhibitions and activities, catering for all interests and tastes. We promote the Creative Arts including live theatre productions, themed musical evenings and arts and crafts workshops. We provide a social and cultural hub not only for the local community, but also for visitors to the Garioch.
Our library and reading area facilitates local history research, with an ever-increasing range of digitised materials. Our delightful café serves delicious home bakes and light lunches. There is onsite parking for cars and mini buses and easy access for coach drop off and pick up. Private tours by experienced guides are available, if booked in advance.
Our prime aim is simple: to become a destination of choice for people of all ages from both far and wide, throughout the year - a place for all seasons.
A warm welcome awaits you.
