Mount Keen

Toggle location map

Mount Keen is the most easterly of the Munros, a cone-shaped summit rearing above the great sea of the Mounth plateau. Its isolated position means it is easily identified in distant views from much of Aberdeenshire. The shortest ascent is from Glen Esk in Angus, but the approach from Deeside is much more scenic, heading through the magnificent ancient Caledonian pinewoods of Glen Tanar, home to crested tits and the rare capercaillie.
