About Balmoral Cairns

There are 11 cairns to discover within the Balmoral Estate. The most famous of the cairns is Prince Albert Cairn which looks out to a panoramic vista of stunning and majestic landscape. Built in 1862 following the Prince Albert's death, this pyramid-like sculpture is not what you'd expect to see in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

Balmoral Castle

Balmoral Castle has been the Scottish home of the Royal Family since it was purchased for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852, having been first leased in 1848. The Castle is an example of Scots Baronial architecture and is classified by Historic Scotland as a Category A listed building.
